Families in the United States, who are living with bleeding disorders, often receive their care at special medical centers. These Centers are called Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTC). The medical staff of an HTC has special training and experience in treating hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and related bleeding disorders. HTCs provide comprehensive care to individuals and families with bleeding disorders using a team of medical care providers. Comprehensive care is care that looks at and treats the person as a whole person.

The comprehensive care team may include a hematologist (blood doctor), an orthopedist (a bone doctor), a geneticist (a doctor who knows about how bleeding disorders are passed from parents to children), a physical therapist, a social worker, a health educator, nurses, and may offer referrals to other specialists like dentists, hepatologists (liver doctors), ObGyns, and others.

HTCs are located across the United States. If you have plans to travel or to move to another part of the country, it might be helpful to know where HTCs are located.

AHF is providing the below link to the national directory of HTCs in the United States as a service to the bleeding disorders community. This is part of our commitment to bring families the very best possible information and services. This directory of HTCs is compiled and maintained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

To find the HTC nearest your home, or one that is near your travel or vacation destination, just "click" the link below and you will be taken to the CDC's Hemophilia Treatment Center Directory.
